I can’t believe we have reached the end of the academic year already, it has gone so fast. In English this week, we wrote our biography about the life of Jacques Cousteau.
In Maths, we used our learning from the year to complete some different puzzles and problems. We completed some maths ladders, that required us to use all four operations to get to the correct answer at the end. We also used our multiplication knowledge to solve a problem about how children were paid on the Planet Zoot.
In Art, we thought about composition and what it means. We looked at different ways to make the composition balanced, having a focal point, it not being not too busy or too bare. We then used different food wrappers to create some collages making sure the composition was good.
In Geography, we learnt about the grid design that lots of towns and cities in the USA were built on. We ,discussed the reasons why and also how things have changed and why we no longer use that design. We then worked in pairs to design our own new town thinking about the layout and what things we needed to include.
This week in Science, we investigated which materials are conductors and which are insulators. We built simple electrical circuits and tested a range of different objects by adding them into the circuit to see whether they allowed electricity to flow and light the bulb. This helped us understand which materials conduct electricity and which act as insulators.

In Computing, we brought together everything we have learned this half term to create our own games in Scratch. We used forever loops, hide and show blocks, added sound effects, and created our own score variable to keep track of points. Once our games were complete, we tested them with our friends, who gave us feedback on how well they worked. It was fantastic to see all of our coding skills come together to create fun, interactive games!

In PSHE we talked about friendship and what qualities a friend should have and how they should make us feel. We talked about positive and negative friendships and what actions would make a friendship negative. We discussed what to do if we are in a negative friendships.
With it being the last week of the year, we had some other exciting activities happening. On Monday, we got to watch the Year 6 production which was fantastic and we all thoroughly enjoyed. We had our end of year achievers service outside and then on Friday our behaviour treat where we went up to Blacksnape Park and played.
The Year 4 staff team would like to say thank you to the children for being fantastic all year and to also wish you all a wonderful summer.
